Course Overview

The Course on Confection of Garments with Recycled Clothing is a program designed for employees of the University of Chile. The course aims to develop theoretical and practical skills necessary for creating garments from recycled materials.


Course Details

  • Duration: September 30, 2025, to December 13, 2025
  • Schedule: Tuesdays from 19:00 to 21:30 hrs and Saturdays from 10:00 to 13:00 hrs (first week); Tuesdays from 19:00 to 21:30 hrs and Saturdays from 09:30 to 14:30 hrs (subsequent weeks)
  • Location: Liceo T嶰nico San Miguel A-100, Gran Avenida #4688, San Miguel
  • Organizer: Unidad de D.O. y Capacitaci鏮
  • Target Audience: Exclusive for employees of the University of Chile

Admission Requirements

  • Exclusive for University of Chile employees
  • Postulation through a designated form
  • Authorization from immediate supervisors required (Commitment Letter - Quality of Life Program Format)
  • Signed Commitment Letter must be sent to the Capacitaci鏮 Coordinator for official authorization
  • Commitment to attend the course on specified dates and times
  • The course will be conducted with 21 participants with taxable income below 25 UTM
  • Four 100% scholarships will be awarded for higher incomes, based on the order of postulation

Module I: Classification of Necessary Materials

  • Types of recycled fabrics

  • Marking tools: chalk, pencil, rod, and others
  • Measurement tools: tape measure, rulers, squares, and others
  • Complementary materials: closures, buttons, brooches, elastics, velcro, scissors

Module II: Pattern Making

  • Pattern of the recycled garment
  • Pattern of the recycled model
  • Pattern symbolism
  • Measurements: lengths, contours, or widths
  • Model: rough pattern, finished pattern, refined pattern
  • Sewing and hemming
  • Measurement table by garment

Module III: Design and Tracing of Recycled Garments

  • Structure of the garment type
  • Taking measurements
  • Using a tape measure
  • Measurement chart
  • Interpreting measurements
  • Tracing the base pattern

Module IV: Cutting and Assembly Techniques for Recycled Fabrics

  • Conventional and machine cutting: characteristics and applications
