Program Overview

The MagÚster en Ciencias Odontolµgicas (Master's in Odontological Sciences) is a postgraduate program offered by the Facultad de OdontologÚa (Faculty of Dentistry) at the Universidad de Chile. The program aims to form professionals who contribute to the generation, development, integration, and communication of knowledge in the field of odontological sciences.

Description

The program is designed for individuals with a degree in licenciado or a professional title in the field of biomedical or basic sciences. The program is not restricted to professionals in odontology, but rather open to those with a background in related fields. The Faculty of Dentistry is accredited and ranked number one in Chile for research in odontological sciences, with a team of expert academics in various disciplines.

LÚneas de Investigaciµn

The program focuses on the following research areas:

1. Clinical odontology, diagnostic and therapeutic applications.
2. Biological, molecular, and genetic bases of buco-maxillofacial diseases.
3. Oral microbiology and immunology.
4. Epidemiology and Anthropology of Odontological Sciences.

Plan de Estudios

The program consists of a set of curricular activities that total 90 credits, equivalent to 2,430 hours of student dedication. The program is divided into four semesters, with a partial dedication of 22 hours per week.

Horario

Classes are held from Monday to Friday, from 8:00 to 17:00 hours.

Semestre

The program is structured as follows:

• Semestre I: Curso Obligatorio (9 credits), Curso Electivo or Formaciµn General (5 credits), Unidad de Investigaciµn (9 credits)
• Semestre II: Curso Electivo or Formaciµn General (5 credits), Proyecto de Tesis (9 credits)
• Semestre III: Desarrollo de Tesis (27 credits)
• Semestre IV: Desarrollo de Tesis and Examen de Grado (26 credits)

Requisitos de Admisiµn

Applicants must have a degree in licenciado or a professional title in biomedical or basic sciences. The application process includes the submission of antecedents, an interview, and an admission exam.

Applications are open from July 28, 2025, to October 31, 2025. There is no limit on the number of available spots.

Cµmo Postular

To apply, candidates must access the online application platform and submit the required documents, including the Formulario de Antecedentes Complementarios (Complementary Background Form) and a letter of recommendation.

PROCESO DE SELECCIÆN

The selection process involves the review of applicants' background, an interview, and an admission exam. The results are informed personally to each applicant.

Valor Postulaciµn

The application fee is $12,500 for Chilean residents and US$25 for foreign applicants.
