Master in Genetics

Description

The Master in Genetics, from the Faculty of Medicine of the University of Chile, seeks for professionals related to the biological and/or medical area to delve into the fundamentals of genetics. The Program provides knowledge and skills in genetics and genomics necessary to carry out basic or applied research to contribute to independent and creative professional development.


Objectives

According to what is stated in the Exempt Decree No. Regulation, TITLE I, Article 2, the general objectives of the Master's Program in Genetics are: To provide advanced level training in the field of Genetics, both in its theoretical knowledge and in its applications, which allows the student superior professional performance, and can also contribute to the deepening of knowledge in the area of Genetics. Accredit, with a higher academic degree, the advanced training acquired through a systematic program of postgraduate studies. The master's degree will provide training that allows the student to: Understand and critically analyze the scientific literature on Genetics. Develop and execute research projects in the field of genetics. Participate in the development and execution of academic university teaching projects in the field of genetics. Apply the scientific method to solve specific genetic problems in both basic and applied sciences. Prepare and present presentations on the discipline at scientific and dissemination events. Provide advice in the field of discipline to public and private organizations. ### Graduate profile Graduates will acquire knowledge and skills that enable them to address complex problems in the area of ​​Genetics in a creative and systematic way. The development of their capabilities will allow them to undertake research activities, technological innovation and superior professional performance. Thus, the main knowledge, skills and abilities that are expected to be achieved are: understanding and application of the main concepts, methods and fundamental theories of Genetics, with the ability to evaluate their applications and limitations.
