Program Overview

The Magíster en Informática Médica is a postgraduate program offered by the Facultad de Medicina at the Universidad de Chile. The program is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in medical informatics, covering areas such as health information management and computer-aided diagnosis and treatment.

Program Description

The program is a collaboration between the Universidad de Chile and the Heidelberg Center for Latin America, as well as the Universities of Heidelberg and Heilbronn. It aims to deliver a systematic and high-level academic education in the field of medical informatics, enabling graduates to work in teaching, research, or executive roles related to health.

Target Audience

The program is targeted at professionals with a background in medicine, engineering, computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, biomedical engineering, nursing, medical technology, or related fields.

Plan de Estudios

The program has an estimated duration of four academic semesters. The minimum effective stay will be two semesters, and the maximum effective stay will be six semesters, including the time for the thesis. To opt for the Magister degree, candidates must complete a minimum amount of academic work representing 120 credits, distributed in systematic curricular activities (90 credits) and a thesis or equivalent formative activity (30 credits).

Requisitos de Admisión

To be admitted, candidates must:

• Hold a Licenciado or professional title with a level, content, and duration of studies equivalent to a Licenciado degree at the Universidad de Chile.
• Demonstrate previous training in line with the program's objectives and requirements.
• Pass a selection exam and/or interview.
• Show adequate command of written English.
• For foreign applicants, demonstrate adequate oral and written command of Spanish.

Postulaciones

The postulation period for admission is from July 14, 2025, to October 10, 2025.
