Program Overview
Diploma in Advanced Modeling Applications in Mining and Metallurgy
The Department of Mining Engineering at the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile offers a postgraduate diploma in Advanced Modeling Applications in Mining and Metallurgy.
Introduction
The Diploma in Advanced Modeling Applications in Mining and Metallurgy aims to introduce professionals and decision-makers in innovation, digital mining, and various technical areas of the mining and metallurgical industry to the fundamental aspects of analysis and modeling necessary for generating predictive applications. These applications consider uncertainty and aid in decision-making based on abundant and diverse information.
Target Audience
The target audience for this program includes professionals working in mining companies, mining suppliers, and specialized consultants who desire a deeper and more practical understanding of the techniques and concepts related to advanced modeling tools. This will enable them to improve decision-making at different levels of the mining production chain.
Program Structure
The program consists of six modules, each designed to deliver fundamental and advanced elements in the topics covered, catering to a audience with different levels of basic training in areas of engineering, geology, and related fields.
Modules
- Matemática and Estadística fundamental for Modeling | 20 hours
- Elements of statistical learning and machine learning for mining and metallurgy modeling | 20 hours
- Modeling of uncertainty and decision-making in geosciences, mining, and metallurgy | 20 hours
- Advanced analytics of mining and metallurgical processes | 20 hours
- Models and image processing in mining and metallurgy | 20 hours
- Spatial modeling of mineral resources and sensor fusion in mining exploration | 20 hours
