The Diploma in Incorporation of Gender Perspective in STEM is a program that aims to introduce theories, concepts, and methodologies related to gender and its application to areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

The program will take place from April 17, 2025, to October 9, 2025, on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 18:00 hours.

This program promotes the agenda of sustainable development in matters of gender equality, specific gaps, and gender in Research and Development (R&D). It also covers general frameworks of gender theories and their application to STEM areas, providing conceptual and methodological tools.

The program is directed at:


  • Anyone who requires the application of gender perspectives in STEM areas.
  • Graduates, professionals, and technicians of higher education in various areas who may or may not have prior knowledge of incorporating gender perspectives in different professional areas.

Objetivos

OBJETIVO GENERAL

The program's general objective is to introduce theories, concepts, and methodologies related to gender and its application to areas of science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, exploring the intersection of gender in these disciplines.


Plan de Estudios

The program consists of the following modules:


  1. M”DULO 1: Introduction to gender variables in STEM areas, relating general concepts of gender theories, knowing the main methodologies, indicators, variables, and gaps related to STEM areas.
  2. M”DULO 2: Scientific-technological education and gender, identifying gender gaps in educational trajectories in science and mathematics.
  3. M”DULO 3: Sciences and mathematics with a gender perspective, explaining how areas of scientific research and development can benefit from the incorporation of a gender perspective in their analysis.
  4. M”DULO 4: Engineering and technology with a gender perspective, explaining how areas of technology and engineering can benefit from the incorporation of a gender perspective in their analysis.
  5. M”DULO 5: Situation in I+D+i+e ecosystems, analyzing the influence and gender gaps in different ecosystems related to the development of I+D+i+e.

EvaluaciÛn

The program will be evaluated based on the development of competencies for the incorporation of a gender perspective in STEM areas. The evaluation will be carried out in three stages through written work and presentations:


  1. EvaluaciÛn 1: Justification and background for the incorporation of a gender perspective in STEM (25%).
  2. EvaluaciÛn 2: Identification of a key problem for the incorporation of a gender perspective in STEM (25%).
  3. EvaluaciÛn 3: Exploration of potential solutions to the identified problem - proposal of a solution (50%).

The following discounts are available:


  • 50% for University of Chile staff (44-hour workday) or their dependents.
  • 50% for registration of two or more people from the same institution, within a purchase order.
  • 50% for indigenous peoples (accredited with a CONADI certificate) - limited places.
  • 30% for payment before December 30, 2024.
  • 25% for former students of undergraduate, postgraduate, and continuing education at the University of Chile (accredited with a certificate or diploma).
  • 25% for University of Chile staff (22-hour workday) or their dependents.
  • 25% for affiliates of Caja Los Andes and their dependents (must be accredited with a membership certificate in the name of the participant).
  • 20% for public officials (workday from 22 hours) - contract or plant with appointment equal to or greater than 1 year.
  • 20% for payment before February 28, 2025.
