Diploma in Green Hydrogen and its Derivatives
Introduction
The Diploma in Green Hydrogen and its Derivatives is a program designed for professionals in the public and private sectors who wish to specialize in the green hydrogen industry, covering technological, economic, regulatory, and environmental aspects.
Objectives
- General Objective: Evaluate the feasibility and scientific-technological applications of green hydrogen projects to visualize opportunities for diversifying the national energy matrix and promoting sustainable economic development.
- Specific Objectives:
- Comprehend the characteristics of renewable energies and the value chain of green hydrogen production projects.
- Know the main direct applications of hydrogen and how to generate greater value through the production of green hydrogen derivatives.
- Design and evaluate green hydrogen and derivative projects considering technical, economic, regulatory, and environmental aspects.
Plan of Studies
The program consists of 7 modules, with a total of 87 hours of lectures and 75 hours of personal work:
- Module 1-A (18 hours): Renewable Energies for Hydrogen
- Module 1-B (15 hours): Green Hydrogen Value Chain
- Module 2-A (10.5 hours): Production of Derivatives
- Module 2-B (7.5 hours): Direct Uses and Potential Applications
- Module 3-A (16.5 hours): Industrial Development Opportunities
- Module 3-B (7.5 hours): Green Hydrogen Industry in Chile
- Module 3-C (12 hours): Evaluation and Execution of Green Hydrogen Projects
Methodology
The program includes:
- Expository classes on the declared topics to build a solid foundation on renewable energies, green hydrogen, and its value chain.
- Practical cases and initiatives currently under development in the market to ground the classes in real situations.
- A laboratory activity for the production of green hydrogen through water electrolysis.
- Invitations to industry speakers to generate a discussion space on the benefits and risks of green hydrogen and renewable energies.
- Evaluations to validate the acquired competencies, both individual and group.
Evaluation
The program is approved with a minimum average grade of 4.0 on a scale of 1.0 to 7.0 in the final work/test, 75% attendance, and participation in classes. Upon completion, participants will receive a Digital Certificate (Diploma) accredited by the Faculty of Physical and Mathematical Sciences of the University of Chile.
Requirements
- Applicants must hold a professional university degree, an academic degree of licensure or higher, or a higher-level technical title (according to university decree 27,670/2023).
- Areas of interest are preferably in industrial engineering, electrical, energy, mining, environmental, chemical, and careers related to project evaluation, economics, among others.

- 50% for University of Chile officials (44-hour shift) or their charges.
- 40% discount for early payment until February 27, 2026.
- 40% discount for companies or institutions that enroll 2 or more students with a purchase order.
- 40% discount for University of Chile graduates (who must accredit with a certificate).
- 40% for public officials with a full-time schedule (at least 1 year of seniority).
- 40% for students from regions other than the Metropolitan Region and for foreigners.
- 40% for professionals working in companies belonging to specific associations or companies.
