The Online Postgraduate Diploma in Management and Response to Forest Fires is an academic program designed for professionals who seek to develop skills and knowledge in the management of operations and timely response in disaster risk mitigation (DRR) related to forest fires.

The program will run from May 6, 2025 to October 28, 2025, with classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:45 p.m., and Saturdays at 9:00 a.m.

General background

The program is based on the need to respond to the growing complexity in the management of large emergencies related to forest fires, and seeks to address the management of operations in forest fires from the point of view of minimizing exposure to disaster risk and providing adequate tools to raise the standard in first response.

Fundamentals of the diploma

The program is based on the growing need to develop new technologies for the acquisition of massive and very high quality information, and on the importance of practical and certified training in subjects related to resource coordination, operations command and pre-attack plans with evaluation of critical infrastructure and first response mechanisms.

Objective and target audience

The objective of the program is to provide a graduation profile of a professional who can function adequately and properly in the field of forest fire emergencies, and who can apply the systemic knowledge necessary to support emergency actions against forest fires.

Type of diploma

The program is made up of 216 chronological hours spread over 45 days, and will be taught in e-learning mode through the U-Cursos platform of the University of Chile.

Curriculum

The study plan includes theoretical and practical classes, as well as analysis of cases presented by the speakers of each module, supported by complementary material for the development of autonomous activities.

Evaluations

There will be 4 evaluations, one for each module, based on content evaluation and development of practical situations for discussion through report delivery.

The cost of the program is $1,850,000, with a registration fee of $50,000.
