Program Overview

The Diagntico y Tratamiento de Errores Innatos del Metabolismo (Diagnosis and Treatment of Inborn Errors of Metabolism) program is designed to provide participants with the knowledge necessary to diagnose and treat inborn errors of metabolism. The program aims to prevent or reduce the clinical sequelae of each pathology and ensure a better quality of life for patients and their families.


Objectives

The program's objectives are to:


  • Contribute to the formation of human resources in the diagnosis and follow-up of children and adults with inborn errors of metabolism.
  • Provide basic tools for diagnosis and treatment in some inborn errors of metabolism.
  • Acquire skills and abilities in medical and dietetic approaches to some inborn errors of metabolism.

Contents

The program consists of eight units:


  1. T馗nicas diagnticas en errores innatos del metabolismo (Diagnostic techniques in inborn errors of metabolism)
  2. Diagntico y tratamiento en aminoacidopat僘s (Diagnosis and treatment in amino acid disorders)
  3. EIM que producen hiperamonemia primaria y secundaria (Inborn errors of metabolism that produce primary and secondary hyperammonemia)
  4. Alteraciones en el metabolismo de los hidratos de carbono (Alterations in carbohydrate metabolism)
  5. Defectos de beta oxidaci de 當idos grasos y EIM del adulto (Defects in beta-oxidation of fatty acids and inborn errors of metabolism in adults)
  6. Aspectos neurolicos, psicolicos y sociales en los EIM (Neurological, psychological, and social aspects of inborn errors of metabolism)
  7. Enfermedades de depito lisosomal (EDL) y enfermedades mitocondriales (Lysosomal storage diseases and mitochondrial diseases)
  8. Nuevas t馗nicas y consideraciones 騁icas en EIM (New techniques and ethical considerations in inborn errors of metabolism)

Evaluation

The program evaluation consists of:


  • Three partial exams with a weight of 10% each
  • Six clinical cases with a total weight of 40%
  • A final exam with a weight of 30%

Duration and Credits

The program lasts 4 months, with 275 hours of study and 10 credits.
