Program Overview
Mestrado em Cooperaçăo Internacional e Desenvolvimento
The program aims to strengthen the professional competencies of students in the context of international cooperation and development, providing them with conceptual principles and practical tools for their professional performance. Additionally, the program offers students the training and knowledge necessary for a better understanding and analytical capacity, from a multidisciplinary perspective, of the complexities of development processes at the national, regional, and global levels.
Objetivos Específicos
The students who graduate from the program will be able to:
- Contribute to the analysis of different development processes that allow defining policies and improving the practice and definition of international cooperation strategies for development, taking into account different cultural, social, political, and economic realities. Special emphasis is placed on understanding the Latin American region.
- Have the necessary elements to strengthen their knowledge, with an approach that facilitates dialogue, understanding, and joint analytical work, considering the different actors involved and the areas of impact of development, such as education, health, and the environment, among others.
- Know the theoretical, practical, and ethical criteria that will allow them to propose and elaborate policies, plans, and action processes that contribute to the economic, social, and cultural development of our societies.
- The Program covers, among others, the following topics: development theory, international cooperation for development, international organizations, public policies, research methodologies, international negotiations, foreign policy, and project management.
Horários
Classes will be held at the Institute from Monday to Wednesday from 6:30 pm to 8:30 pm, and on Saturdays depending on the calendar.

Perfil do Graduado
Students will develop general and specific competencies that will facilitate their understanding of the causes of underdevelopment and cooperation strategies from the perspective of different disciplines. They will also be able to analyze different situations in each country and propose strategies and projects related to development and cooperation.

Graduates will be able to work in the following areas:
- In the public sector, especially in institutions that work in the area of development, cooperation, public policies, social policies, environment, human rights, and diplomacy.
- In the private sector, especially in organizations that carry out international activities related to cooperation, development, or that are interested in the process of international insertion.
- In third-sector organizations (NGOs, political parties, unions) whose field of action has international components.
- In international organizations, especially those related to development, international cooperation, human rights, the environment, and others.
- In media
- In professional activities related to the challenges of global development
Requisitos de Postulaçăo
Candidates must possess a Diploma or Bachelor's degree granted by national or foreign universities, or by higher education institutions that have a level, content, and duration of studies equivalent to those of the Bachelor's degree from the University of Chile. Only applications from students who have completed at least one undergraduate degree with a minimum duration of 8 consecutive semesters (4 years) will be accepted, as established by the Academic Committee of the Course.

Candidates must fill out the application form provided by the Institute of International Studies and attach the following documents:
- Official certificate, issued by the competent authority, of the Diploma, Title, or Bachelor's degree. A certified copy is accepted for application purposes. In the case of foreign students, the certificate must be authenticated with an apostille or visa issued by the Chilean Consulate in the corresponding country. The original certificate will be required for obtaining the diploma.
- Certificate of grades, including equivalence scales (for foreign students).
- Letter of recommendation.
- Letter explaining why the candidate is interested in participating in this Program (up to 500 words).
- Health insurance for foreign students.
- Demonstrate the ability to read texts and understand lectures in English, through a certified proficiency certificate approved by the Committee.
- Interview with professors of the Program. If the student is not in Chile, it is possible to conduct an online meeting.
