Fundamentos de DevOps

The Fundamentos de DevOps program is a comprehensive course designed for technicians and professionals related to programming and software engineering. The program aims to provide students with the knowledge and skills necessary to apply modern software development and delivery tools.

Objetivos Generales

The general objectives of the course are:

• To apply modern software development and delivery tools
• To learn about software development methodologies using the DevOps paradigm
• To develop competencies in directing activities for redesigning software development and delivery processes
• To gain initial knowledge of the main tools used in CI/CD processes
• To practice with a variety of these tools

Contenidos

The program contains 30 hours of instruction, divided into six modules:

1. MËDULO 1 Fundamentos y adopciˇn DevOps: Introduction to DevOps, its origins, and motivations.
2. MËDULO 2 Desarrollo y Construcciˇn de Software: Software development, construction, and evolution.
3. MËDULO 3 Integraciˇn Continua y Entrega Continua: Continuous integration and continuous delivery.
4. MËDULO 4 Calidad y Pruebas Automatizadas: Software quality and automated testing.
5. MËDULO 5 Operaciones y Escalamiento: Operations, scaling, and incident management.
6. MËDULO 6 Observabilidad: Observability, logging, and metrics.

MetodologÝa

The course is primarily practical, with direct work on computers during sessions. The methodology includes:

• Instructor-led instruction on contents and techniques
• Application in exercises of increasing complexity by students
• Personal projects oriented to apply contents in professional, disciplinary, labor, or personal contexts

Evaluaciˇn

The course is approved with a minimum average grade of 4.0 on a scale of 1.0 to 7.0 in the final work/test, 75% attendance, and participation in classes. A digital certificate accredited by the Facultad de Ciencias FÝsicas y Matemßticas de la Universidad de Chile will be sent to participants upon completion.

Relator

The program is led by Carlos MarÝn Diaz, an engineer in informatics and management with a diploma in data science and engineering from the Universidad de Chile.
