Program Overview

The Diploma in Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence and Cognition is a comprehensive program designed to introduce students to the area of artificial intelligence and cognitive sciences from a contemporary and philosophical perspective. The program's primary objective is to demonstrate how new technological developments have affected and revolutionized classic human problems.


Program Structure

The diploma consists of five thematic modules that cover a wide range of problems related to the study of the mind. The modules are:


  • Introduction to the history of mind sciences or cognitive sciences
  • Introduction to the history of artificial intelligence from a philosophical perspective
  • Problematic relationship between the philosophy of mind and artificial intelligence
  • Ethical debate and its relation to the use and development of artificial intelligence
  • Investigation into what linguistic models applied to artificial intelligence can tell us about classic problems in the philosophy of language

Program Details

  • Duration: 50 hours of direct teaching, organized into 25 sessions of 2 hours each, with an additional 100 hours for readings and evaluation preparation
  • Format: Hybrid, with both presential and virtual-synchronous formats available

Additional Information

The realization of this diploma is subject to the inscription of a minimum of 9 students. The program is the result of years of research by the Grupo de Estudios ENIGMA and the Centro de Estudios Cognitivos of the University of Chile, with the support of specialist academics in the area of Philosophy of Mind and Language, Philosophy of Artificial Intelligence, and Linguistic and Grammatical Studies.
