Program Overview
The Programa de Movilidad Estudiantil (PME) is a student mobility program offered by the University of Chile. The program allows undergraduate students to participate in international academic exchanges for a semester (5-6 months) at partner universities abroad.
Presentation
This call is aimed at undergraduate students interested in pursuing an academic exchange at one of the university's partner institutions. Students must choose three universities from different countries and prioritize them. The program is subject to change due to the COVID-19 pandemic and other factors.
Benefits
Selected students will receive the following benefits:
- Exemption from tuition fees and enrollment costs at the host university
- Maintenance of scholarships and/or grants
- Recognition of the exchange for validation purposes upon return to the University of Chile
Universities Available
A map of available universities can be found on the program's website. Canadian universities will only be available for the second semester.
Requirements
To apply, students must:
- Be regular undergraduate students at the University of Chile
- Not be subject to any disciplinary procedures
- Not be at risk of elimination or required to repeat a course
- Have the support of their faculty/institute for the recognition of courses taken abroad
- Be in at least their third semester
- Demonstrate language proficiency according to the requirements of the host university
Application Process
The application process involves:
- Completing the PME application form
- Attaching required documents, including:
- Identity card
- Certificate of regular student status
- Academic transcript
- CV in Europass format
- Academic agreement
- Language certificate
- Letter of recommendation
- Letter of motivation
- Video presentation
Selection Process
The selection process involves:
- Review of applications by the PME Academic Committee
- Evaluation of candidates based on academic performance, motivation, and interest in the exchange
- Priority given to female students in case of a tie
Financing
Students are responsible for:
- Travel expenses to and from the host country
- Living expenses during the exchange
- Health insurance
- Visa fees
Renunciation
Selected students who decide not to participate must inform the PME in writing before July 17, 2024.
Nomination
Selected students will be nominated to the host university, which will make the final decision on acceptance.
Acceptance
Students who are accepted by the host university will receive a letter of acceptance and must then obtain a student visa.
Important Dates
- Publication of bases and opening of applications: May 6, 2024
- Reception of applications and documentation: June 9, 2024
- Publication of results: June 2024
Additional Information
Students are required to read and understand the bases of the call. No applications will be accepted outside of the established deadlines or without the required documents.
