Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences

Description

The Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences of the Faculty of Medicine was created in 1989 with the aim of promoting the training of independent and highly qualified researchers in the biomedical area. This program is based on the recognition that modern medicine depends directly on the advancement of knowledge in basic disciplines such as Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neurosciences, Immunology, Microbiology, Physiology, Pharmacology, among others.


General Information

  • Application Requirements:
    • Possess a Bachelor's or Master's degree.
    • Accredit prior training in the area of ​​biomedicine in accordance with the purposes and requirements of the Program.
  • Academic Degree: Doctorate in Biomedical Sciences
  • Modality: In-person
  • Start Date: March 2026
  • Duration: 8 academic semesters, distributed in:
    • The first 3 semesters correspond to the school plan.
    • The last 5 semesters focus on the development of the thesis.
  • Permanence: Minimum 6, maximum 10 semesters
  • N° Credits: 200 credits (80 correspond to the lesson plan and 120 to the execution of the Doctoral Thesis).
  • Faculty or Institute: Faculty of Medicine
  • Lines of Research: Various, including Cellular Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Neurosciences, among others.
  • Tariff:
    • Tariff (Equivalent to ANID value): 167 UF

Scholarships

  • ANID SCHOLARSHIPS:
    • ANID opened the National Doctoral Scholarship competition, Academic Year 2025.
    • Those applicants who have an undergraduate grade average of less than 5.0 will be unable to apply for the ANID scholarship.
  • Special Faculty of Medicine Support Scholarships:
    • The Faculty of Medicine will have 5 places for accepted applicants in the Doctorate of Biomedical Sciences.
    • The contest rules will be published soon.
