Program Overview
EUREKA! Undergraduate Research Program
The EUREKA! Program is a unique experience that empowers incoming freshmen to start their academic journey and life on campus. It is a five-week summer program, including a zero-credit-hour course, available in online and in-person delivery methods. The program allows incoming first-year Honors students to work with some of Clemson's top faculty, either as part of a team or one-on-one.
Program Overview
EUREKA! gives students the chance to dive into the research experience before their first year begins. Participants will be able to connect with academic mentors and stand out for Rhodes, Goldwater, Fulbright, and other major fellowships. The program also provides an opportunity to familiarize themselves with campus offerings, make friends, and get a head start exploring research.
Eligibility
All accepted incoming first-year Honors students are eligible to apply for EUREKA!
Timeline
- Application opens: April 1
- Information sessions: March 25 and April 15
- Application deadline: May 3
- Decisions: week of May 18
- Fees due: June 1
- Program dates: June 22 - July 24
Application Process
Starting April 1, access the application in two easy steps:
- Log into the Admitted Student Portal.
- Click on the "Honors" tab and scroll down to EUREKA! details.
Program Delivery Options
In-Person Option
In-person EUREKA! participants conduct their summer research on campus and are given several opportunities to get to know their fellow EUREKANs, while also exploring Clemson University campus and the surrounding community.
Online Option
Online EUREKA! participants conduct their research via a creative, virtual format, with all facets of the program, including campus and community activities, being performed remotely from home through video conferencing and other online means.
Becoming a EUREKA! Faculty Mentor
Clemson faculty are encouraged to submit proposals to become a EUREKA! faculty mentor. EUREKA! interns are extremely motivated, highly accomplished, and excited to begin college-level research, with about 70% of participants continuing to do undergraduate research after the program ends. Faculty mentors meet on a weekly basis with their assigned student(s) to address concerns and questions, monitor progress in the research project, and provide mentorship.
