J. Daniel and Nancy Garrison Sales Innovation Program

The J. Daniel and Nancy Garrison Sales Innovation Program is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for success in sales. The program offers a range of opportunities for professional development, networking, and hands-on experience.


Ascent Track Description

The Ascent Track is a semester-long program that provides students with outside-the-classroom professional development activities and assignments. Students who successfully complete the requirements of the Ascent Track will be granted active SIP membership status, eligibility to enroll in SIP courses, and invitations to exclusive SIP engagement events.


Requirements for Completing the Ascent Track

To complete the Ascent Track, students must participate in the following events and activities:


  • Ascent Orientation
  • Ascent Networking Etiquette Event
  • Ascent Resume and LinkedIn Workshop
  • Networking Night
  • SIP Awards Night
  • Attend at least 2 sales club meetings
  • Mentorship: Meet twice with SIP mentor
  • Professionalism:
    • Resume update which meets Ascent criteria
    • Create and complete LinkedIn Profile that meets Ascent criteria

Professional Development

The Ascent track provides students with opportunities for professional development, including resume workshops and networking nights. These events are designed to help students build their skills and confidence in a sales environment.


Industry Partners

During their time in the Ascent track, students will have the opportunity to meet and network with representatives from industry partners. This access allows students to learn more about sales careers and internship and job opportunities.

Program Details

The Ascent Program is designed to give selected students the guidance necessary before becoming full-time Sales Innovation Program members. This guidance involves various developmental experiences, including being paired with a mentor from the Sales Innovation Program and participating in workshops such as networking etiquette and LinkedIn and resume branding. The Ascent Program is the "stepping stone" into the sales program and advanced coursework, and students must apply and receive acceptance as well as participate in these developmental experiences to become eligible for Sales Innovation Program membership.
