Program Overview

J. Daniel and Nancy Garrison Sales Innovation Program

The J. Daniel and Nancy Garrison Sales Innovation Program is a comprehensive program designed to equip students with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in sales.

About the Program

The program is housed in the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business at Clemson University. It offers students a unique opportunity to develop their sales skills through a combination of coursework, professional development workshops, networking, and mentoring activities.

Becoming a SIP Student

To become a SIP student, one must apply for the Ascent Track, a one-semester onboarding program that prepares students for membership in SIP. Upon acceptance, students participate in professional development workshops, networking, and mentoring activities. After completing the requirements within the Ascent track, students are certified as active members of SIP and earn eligibility for SIP coursework.

Eligibility

Students from all over the University are eligible to apply to the SIP Ascent Track. The SIP application is a competitive process that includes submitting a resume and a brief video describing why the applicant is a great candidate for the SIP Ascent Track.

Ascent Track

The Ascent track exposes students to professional development opportunities while introducing them to what a sales career entails. Upon completion of the Ascent track, students become full-time members of the Sales Innovation Program.

Benefits of the Program

The program provides students with meaningful relationships with other SIP students, dedicated faculty, and industry partners. Earning a Sales Certificate by meeting program requirements gives SIP students an advantage when interviewing for sales jobs. The program is invaluable for students, as more than 50% of college graduates begin their professional careers in a sales role.

Testimonial

A senior marketing major, Tripp Tucker, credits the program with opening his eyes to a new career path and equipping him with the skills and knowledge necessary for a successful career in sales. He benefited from the relationships formed with other SIP students, faculty, and industry partners, and feels well-prepared for a future career in sales.
