eClass Training Program

The eClass training program is designed to support instructors in using the eClass platform effectively. The program offers a range of training sessions, each with its own unique focus and objectives.


Introduction to eClass

This introductory workshop provides an overview of how to use the eClass course page. By the end of this workshop, participants will be able to:


  • Upload content
  • Create and organize weekly/topic course format
  • Employ Resources & Activities
  • Activate Forums
  • Use analytical tools

The workshop also includes a hands-on session on resource management, where participants will learn how to employ specific eClass resources such as files, URLs, pages, folders, labels, and books.


eClass for Teaching Assistants

This training session is designed for teaching assistants who use eClass to support instructors. The session focuses on how to use common tools from a TA perspective, including:


  • Course announcements
  • Grading turn-it-in assignments
  • Adding grades to the eClass gradebook

eClass Layouts

This training session demonstrates how to create course pages that are visually pleasing without compromising functionality. Participants will learn how to:


  • Organize course materials
  • Format courses using different layout types (topics, weekly, collapsible, grid, and menu/tab)
  • Understand the key features and benefits of each layout type

eClass Strategies for Large Class Success

Lecture Recording & Delivery using Zoom/Panopto

This training session explores the capabilities of Panopto and Zoom for lecture recording and delivery. Participants will learn how to:


  • Choose the right tool for their specific needs
  • Set up Zoom and Panopto within eClass
  • Troubleshoot common issues

Communications & Groups in eClass

This workshop provides a hands-on session on using discussion forums, announcements, messaging, and chats in eClass. Participants will learn how to:


  • Utilize different types of forums and their advantages
  • Divide classes into small groups
  • Facilitate forums for both permanent and flexible groupings

Re-thinking Assessments in eClass

This training session explores various types of assessments and addresses common challenges instructors face in their implementation on eClass. Participants will learn how to:


  • Select the appropriate eClass tools that align with their course learning goals

  • Create rubrics for assignments and Turnitin

Quizzing with Newly Upgraded Question Bank

This training session focuses on creating quizzes with unique settings and building individual questions. Participants will learn how to:

eClass Gradebook and Assignments

This training session unlocks the full potential of the eClass Gradebook. Participants will learn how to:

This beginner-friendly tutorial introduces participants to H5P, a tool for creating interactive content. Participants will learn how to:


  • Navigate to the eClass course
  • Access the Content Bank
  • Explore H5P activities
  • Create H5P activities in eClass

Introduction to eClass Badges

This training session teaches participants how to create, award, and manage badges in eClass. By the end of the session, participants will have practical strategies to implement badges effectively.


Short Instructional Videos

The program also offers short instructional videos on various topics, including:


  • How to make a course available
  • How to change the course layout
  • How to increase upload file size
  • How to add a guest/external speaker to Zoom
  • How to add Zoom to eClass
  • How to submit on behalf of a student
  • How to manage pending similarity reports
