Program Overview
Integrated Year One (IYO) Program
The Integrated Year One (IYO) is a new initiative for applicants who don't yet meet the language proficiency requirements for their academic program. It has been specifically designed to support students entering their first year of undergraduate studies who want to improve their English language skills while learning about Canadian culture.
Program Overview
The IYO program offers an admission pathway to students who meet the academic requirements for admission to an undergraduate program with an IELTS score between 5.5 and 6.0 (or equivalent). This program is delivered in partnership with The York University English Language Institute and the Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change.

- Earn 24 academic credits in the first year towards the EUC degree in Cities, Regions, Planning (BES).
- Study alongside other first-year EUC undergraduate students in courses.
- Save on time and costs associated with studying English separately.
- Transition to year 2 of the program upon successful completion of all courses.
Program Structure
The IYO is a full-time, two-semester program starting in the Fall (September to December) and continuing into the Winter term (January to April). Over the course of the year, students will complete courses in three areas:
- Non-credit ESL language courses.
- For-credit courses (includes General Education requirements in Natural Sciences, Social Sciences, and Humanities, as well as the opportunity for coursework in the major) (21 credits).
- For-credit electives (3 credits).
Eligibility and Admissions Criteria
- A conditional offer letter for any Faculty of Environmental and Urban Change program.
- Academic IELTS 5.5 or 6.0 overall (with no score below 5.0) or equivalent.
- Successful completion of all other undergraduate academic requirements for the chosen program (e.g., prerequisites).
Tuition Fees
- $49,500 (payable across 2 terms).
- Tuition includes:
- Extensive support for academic and language learning.
- Fee payment for up to 24 credits of academic tuition (international rate).
- 10 hours/week English Language training.
IYO Session Dates
- Fall: September 2, 2025 – April 24, 2026.
- Winter: January 5, 2026 – August 21, 2026.
