The accredited Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree program at the FIU Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing & Health Sciences provides the required educational preparation directed by the American Physical Therapy Association (APTA) for a professional career as a physical therapist.
Program Overview
The comprehensive curriculum for this 9-semester program is designed in two components:
- A didactic component of classroom and laboratory experiences involving foundational, clinical, and physical therapy sciences.
- A clinical component involving experiences in off-campus clinical sites, including hospitals, rehabilitation and outpatient centers, skilled nursing facilities, and more. As a student, you have a choice among 450 internship opportunities.
Licensing Eligibility
Graduates of the FIU DPT program are eligible to sit for the National Physical Therapy Education (NPTE) exam administered by the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy (FSBPT).

Admission Requirements
Applying for admission to the FIU Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) program begins via the Physical Therapist Centralized Application Service (PTCAS) portal. Applicants must then complete the online FIU Graduate School Supplemental Application form.
