Program Overview


Argentina Study Abroad Program

The Argentina Study Abroad program is an intensive four-week program designed to foster an understanding of Latin American international relations through the experience of living and studying in Buenos Aires.


Program Overview

The program is open to both undergraduate and graduate students and takes an interdisciplinary approach to the study of the region. Students register for two courses: International Relations of Latin America and History, Politics, Society, and Culture of Argentina, for a total of 6 credits.


Location Description

Buenos Aires is a cosmopolitan, diverse, and exciting destination with a population of nearly 3.1 million inhabitants. The city is known for its rich cultural life, with varied neighborhoods, including Recoleta, Corrientes, Microcentro, Palermo, San Telmo, and La Boca.


Housing

Students live with Argentine families in the neighborhoods of La Recoleta, Palermo, and Barrio Norte, allowing them to experience Buenos Aires as a local and immerse themselves in Argentine culture.


Semester and Dates

The program takes place during the summer semester, from June 22 to July 17, 2026.


Courses and Credits

The program includes the following courses:


  • INR 3243 - International Relations of Latin America/ INR 4905 - Independent Studies
  • INR 5935 - Topics in International Relations: IR of Latin America
  • LAS 3002 - Argentine Politics, Society, History, and Culture/ CPO 4930 - Topics in Comparative Politics
  • LAS 5907 - Argentine Politics, Society, History, and Culture/ CPO 5934 - Topics in Comparative Politics

Program Cost

The cost of the program is $1,600, which includes daily classes, course materials, homestay accommodation, meals, welcome lunch, bus tour, guided site-visits, tango classes, and orientation sessions. Additional costs include a non-refundable Study Abroad Fee ($195), tuition (6 credits), airfare, local transportation, and lunches.


Payment Dates and Cancellation Policy

  • The program fee is $1,600.
  • A $300 deposit is non-refundable.
  • The $195 OEA fee is non-refundable.
  • All payments are non-refundable.
