English Education Program
The English Education program at Miami Dade College is designed to provide students with a comprehensive education in English literature, language, and pedagogy.
Degree
The program offers a Bachelor of Arts in English Education with ESOL and Reading Endorsements.
Admission Requirements
To be admitted to the program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Complete an Associate in Arts (AA) degree
- Complete all prerequisites with a grade of C or higher
- Have a cumulative Transfer GPA of 2.5 or higher
- Complete the FTCE (General Knowledge Test), a state-mandated requirement for admission to teacher preparation programs
Special Notes
- MAC 1105 (College Algebra) is not required for this program. Instead, students should select MGF or STA courses that satisfy the AA requirements.
- Certain courses are strongly recommended to deepen discipline knowledge and enhance writing skills in preparation for upper division courses. These include:
- DEP 2000 Human Growth and Development
- ENG 2012 Literary Theory

- SPC 2608 Introduction to Public Speaking
- EDF 1005 Introduction to the Teaching Profession
