Degree

The Bachelor of Science in Information Technology is offered with majors in DevOps and Software.

Majors

• DevOps: This major combines software development and IT operations to accelerate the delivery of high-quality software. DevOps professionals are involved from the earliest stages of a project, ensuring that operational and deployment requirements are integrated into the design. They play a critical role in implementing Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), managing configurations, and maintaining system monitoring and reliability.
• Software: This major provides a solid theoretical foundation in computer science and is well-suited for students who are passionate about programming and pursuing careers as software developers.

Admission Requirements

To be admitted to the program, students must:

• Complete an Associate in Arts (AA) degree
• Complete all prerequisites with a grade of C or higher
• Have a cumulative Transfer GPA of 2.0 or higher

Special Notes

• The department offers the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in IT only as a second degree or second major.
• The following lower division course is required for the degree:
  • MAC 1140 Precalculus Algebra or MAC 1147 Precalculus Algebra and Trigonometry
  • MAD 2104 Special Topics in Mathematics: Discrete Math
  • CGS 1100 Microcomputer Applications (equivalent to CGS 2060)
  • COP 2800 Programming in Java* (satisfies COP 2250 requirement for IT majors)
  • PSY 2012 Introduction to Psychology
  • STA 2023 Statistics
