Technological University of Pereira
The Universidad Tecnológica de Pereira (U.T.P.) is a public university in Colombia, offering undergraduate and graduate courses on disaster risk management.
Proposal to Strengthen the Specialization Program in Disaster Prevention and Response Management
The university offers a specialization in Management, Prevention, and Response to Disasters in its Medical School. It also provides courses on risk management at both undergraduate and graduate levels.
Project Objectives
- To develop 10 professionals as specialists in the Departmental Risk Thematic Committee.
- To carry out 10 graduate student projects studying risk scenarios in municipalities from the Department of Risaralda.
- To formulate and implement seminars and workshops on risk management, socializing graduate projects with various stakeholders.
- To develop three lines of work articulating investigation and social projections in topics such as environmental risk awareness, incorporation of risk management in territorial development planning, and communication and education in risk management.
Project Investigator
Jesús Herney Moreno is the Project Investigator and Director of the Post Graduate program "Specialization in Management in Disaster Prevention and Attention". He has extensive experience in the field of health and disasters, working at local, sub-national, and national levels in Colombia.
