Program Overview
With support from the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Office of U.S Foreign Disaster Assistance (OFDA), the program focuses on reducing disaster risk.
Paul C. Bell Risk Management Program
The Paul C. Bell Risk Management Program is another key program within the school.
Program Phases
- Phase III: This phase shifted the focus to Central America and the Caribbean, with a solicitation for program support proposals in Gestión de Riesgo ("Risk Management") from universities in these regions.
- Award: The winning proposal was from Facultad Latinoamericana de Ciencias Sociales (FLACSO), a 9-institution system with a center based in Costa Rica.
- Workshop: The FLACSO proposal included a workshop on Riesgo, Desastre, Cambio de Clima, y Desarrollo Urbano, held in San José, Costa Rica, in the spring of 2007.
- Participants: The workshop brought together 19 participants from 11 countries, including Central America, South America, and the Caribbean.
- Outcome: The workshop generated a similar cross-cutting, multi-university workshop at the national level in Peru.
