Taiwan Language and Culture Immersion Program
Overview
The Taiwan Language and Culture Immersion Program is a four-week summer program that offers students the opportunity to immerse themselves in the Chinese language and culture. The program is designed for students of all levels, from beginners to advanced learners, and provides high-quality lessons from experienced teachers.
Location
The program is located at Shih Chien University in Taipei, Taiwan. The university is situated in the vibrant Dazhi neighborhood, which offers a balance of modern design, cultural immersion, and easy access to the city.
Housing and Dining
Students will stay in a nearby hotel, sharing a double room with a same-gender roommate. Dining options include the school cafeteria, which serves a variety of balanced and nutritious meals, as well as restaurants in the surrounding neighborhood that offer a range of Taiwanese and international cuisine.
Semester and Dates
The program takes place during the Summer B semester, from June 27 to July 24, 2026.
Courses and Credits
Students will register for a total of 6 credits, which includes:
- CHI 3440: Business Chinese (3 credits)
- CHI 3955: Foreign Study: Language and Culture (3 credits)
Program Cost
The cost of the program is $3,800, which includes international health insurance, hotel accommodation, a one-month metro card, cultural excursions, entrance tickets to attractions, and airport drop-off. However, each participant will receive a $800 stipend upon arrival, provided there is a minimum of 14 participants on the program.
Payment Schedule
The program fee payment schedule is as follows:
- Deposit: $500 (due December 1, 2025)
- 1st Payment: $1,800 (due February 1, 2026)
- 2nd Payment: $1,500 (due March 1, 2026)
- Total: $3,800
Cancellation and Refund Policy
- $500 deposit is non-refundable
- $195 OEA fee is non-refundable
- All payments are non-refundable
Physical Activity
The program requires moderate physical activity. However, participants with health concerns should contact the faculty director of the program.
