Program Overview
Introduction to Zero Defect Manufacture for a Circular Economy
The Master's Programme in Manufacturing and its study track Zero Defect Manufacture for a Circular Economy (ZD) is an international double degree programme supported by EIT Manufacturing. This programme combines the study of manufacturing science, including physics of equipment and processes, data analysis, and process management, with a focus on flexibility enabled for smaller lot production.
Degree and Duration
The programme leads to a Master of Science (Technology) degree and is designed to be completed in two years, full-time.
Language of Instruction
The language of instruction for the programme is English.
Eligibility and Application
Relevant Bachelor's degrees are required for eligibility. The application period typically runs from November to March, with specific dates announced annually.
Field of Study and Credits
The field of study is Technology and Engineering, with the programme consisting of 120 ECTS credits.
Organising School
The programme is organised by the School of Engineering.
Programme Structure
The programme is a double degree programme, meaning students study at two European universities in two different countries. The first year involves studying technical courses and innovation and entrepreneurship courses, totaling 60 ECTS. The second year includes technical courses, innovation and entrepreneurship courses, and a Master's thesis, also totaling 60 ECTS.
Specialisations
Students can select their preferred first and second year universities, each offering unique specialisation areas. At Aalto University, specialisations include manufacturing science, data analysis, and process management.
Internationalisation
The programme features integrated, mandatory geographical mobility, with students receiving two degrees from the entry and exit universities, as well as an EIT Label Certificate.
Further Study Opportunities
Graduates are well-prepared for doctoral studies and post-doc positions at Aalto University or internationally, with the Master of Science (Technology) degree providing a solid foundation.
Career Opportunities
Possible future careers include quality management, design and management of manufacturing processes, industrial installations, production, and logistics systems, as well as maintenance management.
Research Focus
Relevant fields in manufacturing science include thermal and mechanical processing technologies, with special reference to new processes of growing industrial importance. In data analysis, fields include modelling, monitoring, and improvement methods for industrial and service scenarios. In process management, analysis, design, and implementation of business and industrial processes, as well as their business performance, are key.
Co-operation with Other Parties
The programme is implemented by Aalto University in cooperation with European partner universities and EIT Manufacturing, supported by the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT).
