Education Description
The subject of film editing, which is part of the master's program in cinematography, is a continuation of the Bachelor's studies in film editing, which form a solid foundation for this subject. The technical, expressive and professional foundations of film editing were created during the Bachelor of Arts degree. The goal of the Master of Arts degree is to develop the student into an expert in looking and seeing as well as a storyteller and artist.

Study Structure
In the master's studies of film editing, students deepen their skills and vision in dramaturgy and film editing. The teaching consists of workshops and lecture groups built around various changing themes, as well as in-depth studies of the theory of the field.

Research at the Department of Cinematography increases understanding of different ways of expression and production. The research direction it represents (practical research) is based on a dialogue between theory and practice.
Collaboration— With Other Operators
ELO cooperates with the University of the Arts, especially the Theater Academy. In addition, there is cooperation with companies and other actors in the field, such as the Finnish Film Institute and various organizations in the film industry.

Evaluation criteria
- Academic success: Grades of previous degree(s).
- Artistic and/or design activities: Demonstrations of artistic activities and/or activities and activities in the field of design.
- Applicability of previous studies: Content and extent in relation to the requirements of the application.
- Suitability/Motivation letter: More specific suitability of the applicant for the application, motivation and commitment to study/Communication skills
- Other competence: Work experience and other acquired competence/achievements, e.g. publications, non-formal education, competitions
Evaluation process
The selection process for applicants who meet the general eligibility requirements is two-stage:
- Phase I: In the first phase, applications are evaluated according to the following evaluation criteria.
