The Samhðllsbyggnadsteknik, civilingenj—r program is a 5-year civil engineering program that focuses on building and maintaining sustainable communities. The program covers a wide range of topics, including construction, environmental engineering, geotechnology, and transportation planning.
Program Content
The program is designed to provide students with a broad knowledge base in civil engineering, with a focus on sustainable development and environmental considerations. Specializations
In the third year, students can choose to specialize in one of four areas:
- Ljud och vibrationer (Sound and Vibration)
- Konstruktion, geoteknik, byggnadsfysik och installationsteknik (Construction, Geotechnology, Building Physics, and Installation Technology)
- Milj—- och vattenteknik, geologi och geoteknik samt trafikplanering (Environmental and Water Engineering, Geology, and Geotechnology, as well as Transportation Planning)
- Projekt- och produktionsledning (Project and Production Management)
Career Opportunities
Graduates of the program can work in a variety of roles, including construction, environmental engineering, geotechnology, and transportation planning. They can also pursue careers in research and development, or continue their studies at the master's or doctoral level.
Admission Requirements
To be eligible for the program, students must meet the following requirements:
- Grundlðggande beh—righet (Basic Eligibility)
- Matematik 4/Matematik E, Fysik 2, Kemi 1, Engelska 6 (Mathematics 4/Mathematics E, Physics 2, Chemistry 1, English 6)
- Alternatively: Matematik fortsðttning nivÍ 2, Fysik nivÍ 2, Kemi nivÍ 1, Engelska nivÍ 2 (Mathematics Continuing Level 2, Physics Level 2, Chemistry Level 1, English Level 2)
Selection Criteria
The selection criteria for the program are based on grades (81%) and the Swedish Scholastic Aptitude Test (19%).
Program Structure
The program is structured as follows:
- Year 1-2: Basic courses in mathematics, physics, and chemistry, as well as introductory courses in civil engineering
- Year 3: Specialization in one of four areas
- Year 4-5: Master's level courses and a degree project
