Binding: history and production techniques

This stage of the continuing education program explores the history and techniques of bookbinding from the medieval period to the French Revolution.

      • Morning: Historical approach and evolution of practices
        • 9 a.m.-11 a.m.: History and techniques of bookbinding in the Middle Ages
        • 11:15 a.m.-1:15 p.m.: History and techniques of bookbinding from the modern era until the 18th/19th century
      • Afternoon:
        • 2:30 p.m.-5:30 p.m.: The structuring elements of binding [session with models]
    • October 16:
      • 9:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.: The structuring elements of binding and terminology (session with models, lexicons, description grids and databases)
      • 2 p.m.-5 p.m.: Presentation and study of library bindings
