Introduction to the CAS Personal Health Coach Program
The Certificate of Advanced Studies (CAS) in Personal Health Coach is a program designed to train individuals as Personal Health Coaches (PHC) who can help clients achieve targeted, health-relevant behavioral changes. The program focuses on developing a competency profile for coaches that includes intervention strategies for movement and sport, nutrition, stress regulation, and conducting fitness and health assessments.
Program Structure and Format
The CAS Personal Health Coach program consists of 15 ECTS points, with 19 attendance days and a study period of one year. Each course has approximately 30 places available for participation. The program includes a practical internship where students apply the knowledge gained during the course and gather initial experiences as Health Coaches. Additionally, a seminar performance is required, focusing on specific coaching for certain disease patterns and their "Special Needs".
Admission Criteria
The CAS program in Personal Health Coach is aimed at individuals with the following educational backgrounds:
- Completed studies (Bachelor's or Master's) in the fields of Sport and Movement, Nutrition Sciences, Psychology, Health Sciences, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, or Osteopathy from a university recognized by the University of Basel.
- In justified exceptional cases: Relevant professional career and corresponding specialist qualifications.

- Dr. Jan-Niklas Kreppke Administration is handled by M.Sc. Céline Lang.
Tuition Fees
The program costs CHF 8,500.
Course Dates
The CAS 2026/27 course starts on Monday, August 17, 2026, and ends on Saturday, June 4, 2027.

Aufbau / Form
The program includes strategies for coaching and conversation leadership, coaching tools, and evidence of coaching interventions to promote a healthy lifestyle. Key components are:
- Theories and techniques for behavioral change
- Competencies for conducting fitness and health assessments
- Intervention strategies for movement, sport, nutrition, and stress regulation
- Overview of the most common non-communicable diseases and their "Special Needs"
Abschlussprüfung
The final examination consists of a written and an oral part.
