The program "Pr³fen in einer Welt mit KI" (Assessment in a World with AI) is an online course designed to help educators adapt to the changing landscape of education with the emergence of generative AI tools.

Description

The course explores the challenges and opportunities presented by AI tools in the context of assessments and evaluations in higher education. Participants will gain insights into the fundamentals of good framework conditions for assessments in a world with generative AI tools and receive practical solutions to enable secure and confident assessments.

Aims

The course aims to enable participants to:

• Explain the challenges posed by the easy accessibility of generative AI tools for assessments in higher education
• Identify necessary framework conditions for assessments in a world with AI
• Recognize the potential of AI tools as an opportunity for changing the current assessment culture
• Design authentic assessment tasks, implement alternative assessment forms, and adjust evaluation criteria
• Inform students about the rules for using AI in their courses
• Utilize generative AI tools to support the formulation of assessment tasks

Methods

The course is a self-study program with an optional performance record. A Zoom event will be held in the winter semester 2024 for participants to ask questions and exchange ideas with the instructor and colleagues.

Target Group

The target group includes members of the University of Basel involved in teaching and habilitated personnel of the University of Basel.
