DAS Nonprofit Management & Law
Overview
The DAS Nonprofit Management & Law is a part-time postgraduate program that offers a scientifically founded and practice-oriented education in nonprofit management and related fields. The program focuses on transferring current scientific knowledge from management, law, sociology, and ethics to practical situations. It also promotes personal, professional, and methodological competencies that enable students to lead a nonprofit organization (NPO).
Structure
The program is modular and consists of the following components:
- CAS Nonprofit & Public Management or
- CAS Nonprofit Governance & Leadership or
- CAS Wirkungsmanagement in NPO
- Elective module: Intensive course on foundation management or intensive course on strategic financial management in NPOs
- DAS diploma thesis
- DAS diploma examination
The program covers theoretical foundations and practical examples, including group work, case studies, and discussion rounds. Additional learning content is developed through self-study with modern e-learning methods accompanied by tutors.
Target Audience
The program is designed for individuals who work full-time or part-time in NPO management and want to expand their personal education and professional qualifications for leadership roles. This includes executives and managers of aid organizations, promotional foundations, sports organizations, development organizations, associations, and clubs, as well as board members. A university or college degree (Bachelor or Master) is required. In justified cases, individuals with equivalent prior education and professional experience in a nonprofit organization may be admitted.

Teaching Staff
The teaching staff consists of lecturers from the University of Basel, other universities and colleges, and practitioners and consultants with long-standing experience.
Fee
The program fee is CHF 12,700 (compact) to CHF 13,500 (modular), depending on the chosen courses, excluding seminar packages, travel costs, accommodation, and meals. Discounts are available for members of SwissFoundations.
Duration
The program can be started at any time, and the duration is 2-4 years, part-time. The application deadline is four weeks before the start of the chosen introductory course.
