Introduction to the Master's Program in Language and Communication
The Master's program in Language and Communication is a unique program that deals with current developments in society and media from a language- and culture-crossing perspective. Program Structure
The Master's program in Language and Communication is a monostudy program without additional subjects, consisting of 120 credit points (KP). The free elective area consists of freely selectable courses that can be used to deepen knowledge in the study subjects, gain insight into other study programs offered by the University of Basel, or acquire language skills.
Admission Requirements
The admission to the Master's program is generally regulated by the University of Basel's student regulations and the study plans of the individual study programs. A Bachelor's degree from a recognized university in the amount of 180 KP is a prerequisite for admission without conditions.
Language of Instruction
The program is multilingual, and Master's examinations are taken in two languages. The participating departments offer a large part of their courses in the respective study language (immersion teaching). The specialist literature used is largely in languages other than German, namely in English, French, Italian, and Spanish.
