Program Description

The Gel‰ndepraktikum "÷kologische Standortansprache im Gel‰nde" is a field practice course that focuses on ecological site assessment in the field.

Course Objectives

The course aims to teach students the fundamentals of field assessment of soil characteristics, methods for physical and chemical evaluation of soils, and introduction to the ecological evaluation of sites.

• Understand the methods for measuring soil chemistry and physics

Course Structure

The course consists of a field week in Val Piora (Monday to Saturday) with evaluation and presentation (group work).

Requirements

• Participation in the practice course
• Submission of a protocol
• A repeat examination in the form of an oral examination is possible

Target Group

The course is designed for students who have already acquired knowledge of the part "System Earth: Introduction to Soil Science" and its soil science excursion or have equivalent knowledge.

Costs

The course costs CHF 370 for accommodation, materials, and catering.

Admission Criteria

Students are required to have prior knowledge of soil science and its applications.
