Program Overview


Introduction to the University Program

The university program in question is focused on data protection, a topic of great public interest. The program is designed for employees of public organizations, specifically in the canton of Basel-Stadt.


Program Description

The program aims to teach the fundamentals of data protection. It covers various aspects, including when data protection law applies, the difference between object and personal data, the legal basis for data processing, and who is responsible. Upon completion of the program, participants will be familiar with the principles of data processing, the role of consent in data processing, and the obligations and risks associated with commissioned data processing and cloud services.

Program Leadership

The program is led by Prof. (em.) Dr. Beat Rudin, former data protection officer of the canton of Basel-Stadt, and Danielle Kaufmann, who was previously responsible for data protection at the University of Basel and is now the data protection officer of the canton of Basel-Stadt.
