Internal Medicine Residency Program

The Internal Medicine Residency Program at UT Southwestern is committed to providing a comprehensive and innovative education in internal medicine. The program is guided by the principles of promoting and sustaining a clinical learning environment that transforms medical students into independent professionals in a purposeful, humanistic, and sustainable way.


Program Leadership

The program is led by Salahuddin Kazi, M.D., Vice Chair of Education and Internal Medicine Residency Program Director. Dr. Kazi emphasizes the importance of feedback, advocacy, and innovation in continuously improving the resident experience.


Program Description

The program recognizes residents as peers in progress and provides a thoughtful balance of graded autonomy with supportive guidance and progressive responsibility. The curriculum is designed to maximize the acquisition of competence and confidence, with a focus on health care equity, quality, and safety.
