Application and Admissions

The application period for the Doctor of Physical Therapy program is from July 1 to October 15, with a cost of $155 to apply. PTCAS charges $155 for the first program and $60 for each additional program.

GRE Code

UT Southwestern Medical Center's institutional and departmental GRE Code is 6686. Note that the institution does not report scores to PTCAS, thus the status reflected in PTCAS will not be accurate.

Requirements

To be considered for the Doctor of Physical Therapy Program, students must:

• Complete a baccalaureate degree in any field at a regionally accredited US or Canadian institution
• Earn a recommended cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• Complete and submit an online application with PTCAS between July 1 and October 15, which requires:
  • At least three letters of recommendation
  • Graduate Record Examination (GRE) scores (within the last 5 years)
  • TOEFL scores if an international student
• Earn 44 hours of credit in the prerequisite courses with a grade of "C" or higher before entering the program

Holistic Applicant Evaluation

The Admissions Committee evaluates each applicant as a whole, considering factors such as:

• Quality and quantity of academic preparation
• Letters of recommendation
• Exposure to physical therapy
• Community service activities

Interviews

Applicants chosen for an interview will participate in a group interview and meet with current students for a Q&A.

Acceptance Decisions

The Admissions Committee makes acceptance decisions after each interview day and notifies both members and alternates for the incoming class.

The Physical Therapy program awards substantial scholarship funding to approximately 40% of the class, including:
