Introduction to Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science BSc (Hons)

The Mathematics, Statistics and Data Science BSc (Hons) is a four-year undergraduate degree that combines the study of mathematics, statistics, and data science. This course is designed for students who have an analytical mind, enjoy visualizing and interpreting data, and thrive on challenges.

Course Structure

The course lasts for four years and starts in September. The first year consists of compulsory units in core pure and applied mathematics, statistics, and data science. In the second year, students can choose from a range of options in algebra, applied mathematics, probability, and numerical analysis. The third year offers the opportunity to study abroad or undertake a professional placement. The final year consists of compulsory units in statistics, machine learning, and data science, as well as optional units in areas such as group theory, differential geometry, and mathematical biology.

Learning and Assessment

Entry Requirements

• A levels: AAA - AAA, including A in Mathematics and A in a second quantitative subject
• International Baccalaureate: 36 points overall, with 7, 7, 6 in three Higher Level subjects, including 6 in Mathematics: Analysis & Approaches
• English language requirements: IELTS 6.5 overall, with no less than 6.0 in all components
