Introduction to the Bath Insights Internship Programme

The Bath Insights internship programme provides undergraduate students at the University of Bath with the opportunity to gain work experience across various university departments on campus. This programme is available exclusively to students of the University of Bath and offers them a chance to develop a range of sought-after skills and competencies while working on real projects.

About the Programme

The Bath Insights internship programme is open to most University of Bath undergraduate students in years one and two. However, students studying distance learning courses or visiting the university on an exchange are not eligible to apply. Additionally, students who have already completed a Bath Insights internship are also not eligible. The programme welcomes applications from all eligible students, with a particular interest in receiving applications from students in receipt of a Bath Bursary.

Programme Details

• Each internship lasts for 8 weeks.
• Internships are full-time roles, requiring 36.5 hours per week.
• Interns are paid at Grade 2, which meets or exceeds the real living wage.
• Interns also receive free on-campus accommodation.

Available Internships

A wide range of internships are available across different departments, from the Careers Centre to the Doctoral College. Although applicants cannot apply to a specific project, they can indicate a preferred theme on their application. All shortlisted applicants are invited to attend an Assessment Centre, and if successful, they will be matched to the most appropriate opportunity.

• Applications for the programme open on 6 January 2026.
• Applicants can read an overview of each project before applying.
• Projects are sorted by theme, allowing applicants to express their preference.
• The selection process includes an Assessment Centre for shortlisted applicants.

The Bath Insights internship programme aims to provide students with the opportunity to develop workplace skills, contribute to genuine projects, and apply blue skies thinking and practical solutions. The programme also enables host departments to harness student creativity, ingenuity, and energy, benefiting both the students and the university.
