Program Overview
International Summer School
The International Summer School is a program designed to explore China's urban landscapes, historical heritages, and industrialization in Southwest China. The program will take place from June 30th to July 10th, 2026.
Eligibility Requirements
To be eligible for the program, applicants should:
- Be between 18 and 30 years old
- Be undergraduate or master's students
- Have an interest in Chinese culture, history, and modernization
- Desire to further explore the diversity of China's social and economic development
- Have a solid foundation in the Chinese language (although it is not mandatory)
Application Materials
Applicants are required to submit the following materials:
- A cover letter including a self-introduction, motivation for participating in the program, and relevant experiences or interests
- An academic transcript (most recent)
- Language proficiency score (if available)
- A completed Personal Information Form (English section)

- Ancient Culture and Historical Trajectories in Southwest China: Explore the evolution of ancient cultures in Southwest China and their influence on the region's identity and heritage.
- Modern Industrial Layout and Urban Transformation: Examine the modernization of Chongqing, including its industrial planning and urban regeneration efforts.
- Cultural Diversity and Community Building in Southwest China: Study the vibrant cultural diversity of Southwest China and the harmonious coexistence of various ethnic groups.
- Chongqing's International Relations and the Belt and Road Initiative: Investigate Chongqing's strategic role in China's global outreach and its contributions to the Belt and Road Initiative.
Field Visits
Participants will engage in hands-on learning through visits to significant sites, including:
- 816 Nuclear Project Relics: A piece of industrial history reflecting China's engineering achievements.
- Western Logistics Park: A hub showcasing modern logistics and trade development.
- Seres Smart Factory: A state-of-the-art manufacturing facility illustrating Chongqing's advances in smart technologies.
- Dazu Rock Carvings: A UNESCO World Heritage Site famed for its exquisite Buddhist sculptures and rich cultural symbolism.
- Diaoyu Fortress: A historic fortress known for its pivotal role in resisting Mongol invasions.
