Introduction to the Program

The Chongqing University and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (UWM) have established a cooperative agreement to launch a "1+1+1" master's double degree joint training program in electrical engineering. This program allows students to spend their first year at Chongqing University, completing foundational courses in electrical engineering, followed by a second year at UWM, where they will engage in specialized coursework and research projects under the guidance of UWM faculty. Upon completion of the program, students will be awarded master's degrees from both UWM and Chongqing University.

Program Overview

• The program is designed for full-time master's students in the School of Electrical Engineering at Chongqing University.
• The "1+1+1" model involves:
  • Year 1: Students complete foundational courses in electrical engineering at Chongqing University.
  • Year 2: Students attend UWM for specialized coursework and to participate in research projects.
  • Year 3: Students return to Chongqing University to complete their thesis and defend it.

Admission Requirements

• English proficiency: Applicants must have a good command of English, with a TOEFL score of 79 or above, or an IELTS score of 6.5 or above.
• Additional requirements for applicants seeking funding from the China Scholarship Council (CSC) include:
  • Fulfilling the above conditions.
  • Undergoing a further selection process by the college.

Tuition Fees and Funding

• UWM's tuition fee is approximately $12,000 per year, which is paid by the student.
• Scholarship: UWM offers 3-5 scholarships to Chongqing University students, with the specific number subject to change based on annual policies.
• Funding for students selected for the "Innovative Talent International Cooperation Training Project" by the CSC includes:
  • A round-trip international airfare.
  • Living expenses during the study period abroad.

Application Procedure

1. Online Application: Applicants must complete UWM's online application process. If the application deadline is near, and the official admission letter from UWM has not been received, applicants can first obtain an invitation letter or an intention letter from the UWM supervisor.
2. Submission of Documents: Besides the materials required for the CSC online application, applicants must submit the School of Electrical Engineering's joint training application form to the college before the specified deadline.
3. CSC Online Application: Applicants must log in to the CSC's online application system within the specified timeframe and submit their applications according to the requirements outlined for the "Innovative Talent International Cooperation Training Project."
