Program Overview
Introduction to the Postgraduate Program
The Postgraduate Program in Penal and Criminological Sciences is operated by the Law School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. The program's operation is governed by the provisions of the relevant decision of the University's Senate (Government Gazette 3646/./27-8-2018), the Program's Regulations (Government Gazette 741/./4-3-2019), the amendment of the Senate's decision (Government Gazette 4035/./21-9-2020), and Law 4485/2017.
Quality Policy
The Quality Assurance Policy of the Law Department is fully harmonized with the quality policy of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, as approved by the University's Senate. The Department ensures the quality of its teaching, research, and administrative work through continuous improvement and the participation of all its members.
Application of Quality Policy
The Law Department and the Postgraduate Program in Penal and Criminological Sciences are committed to applying the quality policy, which enhances the academic identity and orientation of the postgraduate programs, promotes their purpose and object, implements their strategic goals, and ensures the participation of interested parties.
Quality Assurance Procedures
The Department and the Program apply the established quality assurance procedures of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki's Quality Manual, with the necessary specialization at the postgraduate program level. These procedures include:
- Application of quality assurance policy, periodic review, and revision (when required)
- Design of the postgraduate program in accordance with the current legislation and the University's Regulations
- Harmonization with the current legislative framework and regulatory provisions
- Application of the Program's Regulations and other University Regulations and Decisions
- Submission of the Individual Curriculum Vitae and the Course Description Form to the Quality Assurance Unit
- Evaluation of courses and instructors by students
- Various methods of student assessment
- Efforts to monitor the progress and professional rehabilitation of program graduates
- Teaching staff (selection, regulations, performance, support)
- Management of the Program's resources (infrastructure, equipment, etc.)
- Collection and processing/analysis of quality data for the improvement of the Program
- Monitoring, analysis, and comparison with national and international indicators
- Publication of information about the Program
- Quality and systematic updating of the Program's website
Quality Objectives
The quality objectives of the Law Department for the Postgraduate Program in Penal and Criminological Sciences are:
- Continuous reform and improvement of the Postgraduate Program
- Enhancement of student-centered learning in the Program's design
- Improvement of student performance and achievement
- Reduction of the percentage of students who drop out or delay completion of their studies
- Production of significant impact articles in international scientific journals and collective volumes
- Utilization of the Program's alumni network in the service of the University's academic and social objectives
Publication
The Quality Policy is communicated and disseminated to the academic and administrative staff, students, and other interested parties. The Quality Policy is posted on the Program's website.
Coordination Committee
The responsibility for monitoring and coordinating the operation of the Program belongs to a five-member Coordination Committee. The Committee consists of the following members:
