Program Overview


Introduction to the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program

The Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Advanced Computer and Communication Systems is a collaborative effort between two leading universities in Thessaloniki. The program aims to provide specialized knowledge in the use and development of advanced applications of Information Technology and Communications, with the goal of creating a highly skilled workforce that can respond to the needs of the rapidly evolving technological landscape.


Program Objectives

The program's primary objective is to offer specialized knowledge in the fields of advanced computer and communication systems, focusing on the development of a new interdisciplinary field of postgraduate studies. This field is formed by the convergence of scientific disciplines related to the theory and applications of advanced computer and communication systems.


Program Structure

The program is organized into three main directions:


  • Internet Technologies and Internet of Things: This direction focuses on the development of advanced internet technologies and their applications in various fields.
  • Intelligent Systems Computational Intelligence Methodologies and Applications: This direction explores the development and application of intelligent systems, including computational intelligence methodologies.
  • Audio and Video Technologies in Production and Education: This direction concentrates on the use of audio and video technologies in production and education, highlighting their potential in enhancing learning experiences and content creation.

Program Duration and Diploma

The program's duration is three academic semesters. Upon completion, students are awarded a Postgraduate Diploma of Specialization (PDS) in Advanced Computer and Communication Systems. The diploma is issued in both Greek and English.


Academic Requirements

To complete the program, students must attend courses in the first and second semesters, which correspond to 60 ECTS credits, and complete a postgraduate thesis in the third semester, which corresponds to 30 ECTS credits.

The program is a collaboration between several departments:


  1. Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering
  2. Department of Medicine
  3. Department of Music Studies
  4. Department of Journalism and Mass Media, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH)
  5. Department of Accounting and Finance, University of Macedonia

These departments operate in accordance with the provisions of Law 4485/2017, organizing and functioning the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Program in Advanced Computer and Communication Systems.


Program Scope

The program aims to enhance interdisciplinary research, undertake pioneering projects in applied research, and develop the respective fields. It seeks to create a highly skilled workforce capable of meeting the demands of the rapidly evolving technological landscape, leading new technology enterprises, and serving as the core for the training and education of the broader social group.
