Program Overview
Doctoral Studies
The Doctoral Studies program at the Department of History and Archaeology of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki aims to promote knowledge and original scientific research, leading to the acquisition of a Doctoral Diploma.
Doctoral Diploma
The Doctoral Diploma is an academic title that certifies the completion of original scientific research and a substantial contribution to the advancement of science and knowledge in the respective field.
Duration of Studies
The duration of studies for the Doctoral Diploma is at least three (3) full calendar years from the date of appointment of the Three-Member Advisory Committee.
Maximum Time Limit
The maximum time limit for completing the doctoral dissertation is five (5) full calendar years from the date of appointment of the Three-Member Advisory Committee. This period may be extended for an additional year, following a request by the candidate and a justified decision by the Departmental Assembly.
Tuition Fees
The Doctoral Studies program is offered free of charge.
Announcement of Positions
The Department may announce positions for doctoral candidates in January and May of each year, following a proposal by the Departments and a decision by the Departmental Assembly. The positions are posted electronically on the Department's website.
Doctoral Diploma Certificate
The doctoral candidate is awarded a Doctoral Diploma Certificate. The Doctoral Diploma (parchment) is signed by the Rector, the President, and the Head of the Department's Secretariat, and bears the seal of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
