Programme of Study

PPS "Psychological Applications in Health"

The objective of the PPS program is the study, research, and provision of postgraduate education to all the psychological factors that are proven to be involved in health, illness, and healthcare. The purpose of the PPS is to cultivate and promote scientific knowledge in the field of dealing with psychological factors that are proven to be involved in health, the development of relevant scientific research, and the provision of appropriate postgraduate training to meet the needs for scientific staff at the postgraduate level of education.

Qualification Requirements and Regulations

According to the published founding regulation, the acquisition of the Postgraduate Specialization Degree in "Psychological Applications in Health" requires that the postgraduate students have to complete a set of courses extending over 2 semesters and a Postgraduate Diploma Thesis, which corresponds to a total of 75 ECTS.


Key Learning Outcomes and Occupational Profiles

They have to attend and successfully be examined in 8 subjects, which are divided as follows:


  • In the 1st semester (30 ECTS) - 4 compulsory lessons
  • In the 2nd semester (30 ECTS) - 4 subjects, 2 compulsory and 2 optional lessons In addition, they design and accomplish their Postgraduate Diploma Thesis (25 ECTS), which is started in the 2nd semester and completed in the summer period followed by the public defense and examination.

Professional Status

Professional qualification is applicable in the public or private sector.


Access to Further Studies

The qualification is a terminal award and allows access to doctoral studies in the School of Medicine of AUTH.


Examination Regulations, Assessment, and Grading

A ten-scale (of 1 to 10) applies to the marks of each subject in the Hellenic Higher Education. The grading scheme for the qualification of the Interdisciplinary Postgraduate Study Program follows the distribution:


  • (Arista) Excellent: 8.50 - 10.00
  • (Lian Kalos) Very Good: 6.50 - 8.49
  • (Kalos) Good: 6.00 - 6.49
  • (Anepitychos) Fail: 0.00 - 5.99 The minimum successful passing grade is six (6).

Graduation Requirements

A full academic year (which includes the two semesters) is equivalent to 60 ECTS units and each semester to 30 ECTS. The summer period is equivalent to 15 ECTS and the completion of PMS in a total of 75 ECTS.
