Program Overview


Introduction to the Summer School

The Centre for Education and Lifelong Learning (KEDIVIM) of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki (AUTH) and the Research Institute for Transparency, Corruption and Financial Crime of the Faculty of Law, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, welcome you to the Summer Educational Programme entitled "Recent Developments on Financial Crime, Corruption and Money Laundering: European and International Perspectives".


Programme Details

  • Duration: 50 teaching hours
  • Location: Thessaloniki
  • Format: Blended format (in-person and synchronous online attendance)
  • Dates: 6-11 July 2026
  • Application Period: 23 December 2025 – 30 April 2026

Programme Objectives

The Summer School aims to enhance participants' knowledge of European and international developments and perspectives in the fields of financial crime, corruption, and money laundering.


Learning Outcomes

  • Knowledge: Gain extensive, specialized knowledge of recent European and international developments and emerging trends in financial crime, corruption, and money laundering.
  • Skills: Develop a wide range of cognitive and practical skills required to find creative solutions to problems in these fields.
  • Competences: Develop the ability to manage and oversee cases related to financial crime, corruption, and money laundering.

Selection Criteria

  • Eligible Categories of Applicants: Law students, recent law graduates, and professionals with a background in law.
  • Prerequisite Knowledge: A Law degree or a degree in a related scientific field, or a certificate of enrolment in a Law School, or a certificate of enrolment in a School of a related scientific field.
  • Required Supporting Documents: Curriculum Vitae (CV)

Tuition Fees

  • In-person Attendance: €400 / €320 early bird tuition fee
  • Online Attendance: €340 / €280 early bird tuition fee
  • Discounts: 20% discount on standard tuition fees for specific categories, including staff and students of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, unemployed persons, European Youth Card holders, persons with disabilities, and members of large families.

Certificate

Upon successful completion of the programme, participants are awarded a Certificate of Training with 5 ECTS.


Structure of the Educational Programme

The programme includes various modules, such as:


  • Introduction to EU Criminal Law
  • Fraud against the financial interests of the EU
  • Combating fraud against the financial interests of the EU – procedural perspectives
  • Protecting fundamental rights in the fight against financial crime
  • The EU's institutional framework on organised crime
  • Cybermoney – a new challenge for Criminal Law
  • The concept of bribery in international and European law
  • Combating corruption with Criminal Law
  • Money laundering: International and EU perspectives

Implementation Method

The Summer School will be delivered in a hybrid format, offering the option of in-person or online attendance, through the use of a simultaneous teleconferencing system.


Educational Material

Participants will be provided with digital educational material covering all teaching units of the programme, including presentations, case law, legislation, and selected articles and studies.
