Program Overview
Introduction to the Master's Program in Theories and Practices of Cinema
The Master's program in Theories and Practices of Cinema is a unique offering in Europe, resulting from the collaboration between the Centre d'etudes cinematographiques (CEC) of the University of Lausanne and seven other partners of the Reseau Cinema CH. This program aims to form historians of cinema in a perspective of professionalization, deepening of disciplinary knowledge, and development of research skills.
Objectives
The objectives of this program are to provide students with specialized knowledge and skills in three main areas:
- The conservation, archiving, and valorization of film and non-film archives
- The economy of cinema
- The realization of films
This specialization seeks to nourish the reflection conducted in the framework of the master's thesis and subsequent research, particularly at the doctoral level. It also fosters familiarity with various institutions in the Swiss cinematographic branch.
Target Audience
This program is exclusively addressed to students who have chosen History and Aesthetics of Cinema as their main discipline for the Master's degree and wish to deepen their knowledge in specific areas of cinematographic studies.
