Program Description

The PREDITOX school, organized by the LBBE laboratory and the CNRS, in collaboration with FOCAL and the congress cell, offers a qualifying training program designed to help ecotoxicologists improve their skills in modeling and statistical inference to better analyze their toxicity test data.

European guidelines for the assessment of risks related to chemicals are constantly evolving to integrate more ecological realism while limiting the use of laboratory animal testing. Additionally, the OECD has undertaken a revision of the guidance documents related to biological testing in the laboratory to strengthen the relevance of data analysis methods.

These new official texts recommend the use of appropriate mathematical and statistical modeling tools, for cognitive and predictive purposes. They encourage the optimization of data analysis (e.g., interpolation between tested concentrations in biological tests) and the use of modeling as a basis for predicting effects under different environmental conditions (e.g., extrapolation between different scenarios and exposure durations, extrapolation from individual to population level, extrapolation from one species to another or from one chemical to another).
