University Program: Arts & Sciences Residency

The University Lyon 1 hosts an annual Arts & Sciences residency, a collaborative project between the university's Mission Culture and a research laboratory. This residency involves the participation of students, faculty, and staff, and includes workshops and activities.

Program Description

In 2022-2023, the residency focused on the theme "Mťdicaments d'hier, d'aujourd'hui et de demain" (Medicines of Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow). The program was led by comic book author Valentine de Lussy, who worked in collaboration with the Faculty of Pharmacy at Rockefeller. De Lussy interviewed several teachers-researchers to learn more about the science of medicines and transcribed her discoveries into a dozen comic book pages.

Program Activities

• The residency included the participation of students, faculty, and staff from Lyon 1, who assisted in interviews and participated in comic book creation workshops to learn about the process of creating a documentary comic book.
• The comic book pages were exhibited at the BU Santť site at Rockefeller in October 2023.
• A podcast featuring interviews with teachers-researchers was created, with three 30-minute episodes retracing the facts and knowledge used to create the comic book.
